TESTIMONIALS

Our second year running at Mattikoko. Another wonderful trip with Moses and his team. If you are looking for a totally authentic Maasai Mara adventure amongst beautiful animals in a very safe open camp do not hesitate to visit Mattikoko. The guiding is exceptional and your support team at camp are wonderful and very friendly. We recommend Mattikoko without reservation.

From start to finish, our trip to Kenya with Moses and the Mattikoko Camp team was nothing short of spectacular. Moses was the perfect guide. Knowledgeable, passionate, and deeply connected to the land and wildlife. Every game drive felt like a personal masterclass in animal behavior and conservation. He didn’t just show us the Big Five; he shared the stories, history, and small details that made every sighting come alive. His ability to spot wildlife, sometimes from what felt like miles away, was absolutely impressive.
What stood out most was the care and authenticity in everything they did. There was never a moment that felt rushed; everything was designed to immerse us fully in the beauty and rhythm of the Mara. If you’re looking for a safari that blends comfort, authenticity, and world-class guiding, I can’t recommend Moses and Mattikoko Camp highly enough. This was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and I’m already dreaming about coming back.

Mattikoko, set in Lemek Conservancy, is a very special experience. The camp owner Moses (Titi) is a Maasai who grew up in the Mara and is intimately familiar with the animals, land, and people. Additionally, he is a trained guide. The staff are all friendly and welcoming, and also come from the local community.
The conservancy has very low vehicle numbers which means that at times you may be the only ones at a sighting. We saw lions on every game drive. Also present in the conservancy are elephants, cheetahs, many varieties of antelope and gazelles in addition to several resident leopards.
The food, whether in our packed breakfast hamper or back at camp, was excellent and too plentiful. The tents, while simple, were comfortable and provided everything we needed. This camp should definitely be on your "must visit list."

I will be gushing about Mattikoko for ages. The experience is unbeatable. You are out in the Maasai Mara, no fences. Lions and Hippos can wander right through the camp, but in the beautiful tents (outfitted with bathrooms and showers) and with experienced Maasai staff around 24/7 I never felt unsafe. The food was criminally excellent. We teetered between being beyond excited for the game drives (spotting lions, elephants and impalas out on the savanna) and being beyond excited for the next gourmet meal or treat from our chef, Raphael. Moses, the camp priopritor, is one of 30 elite gold standard guides in Kenya and he and his wife Marion ate meals with us and answered all of my many questions about the animals and Maasai culture. We booked our Safari with Moses after another guide fell through, and we were pinching ourselves the entire trip about how lucky we were. One of my all-time best travel experiences.
