Family Safaris in the Maasai Mara
At Mattikoko, we offer genuinely family-friendly accommodation in the Maasai Mara. Children are not an afterthought here – they are welcomed, catered for, and often the ones who get the most out of the experience.
A camp built for families
The camp’s layout is simple and safe, with staff on hand at all hours. Our family tent sleeps up to five and gives families their own space without sacrificing comfort. The atmosphere at Mattikoko is relaxed and informal, the team is warm and approachable, and the pace of a day here suits children as well as adults. Meal times can be adapted to kids, so that we’ll work around your family’s routine.
Children under five stay free. Children between five and fourteen are charged at 50% of the adult rate. We are happy to discuss specific needs and arrangements – just get in touch before you book.
Safaris with children
Game drives at Mattikoko are perfectly suitable for kids of all ages. Titimet and our guides are experienced at guiding families, and have a particular talent for bringing children into the experience; explaining animal behaviour, pointing out tracks, and making the bush come alive for younger guests in ways that stay with them long after the trip. Walking safaris, offered at a gentle pace with a focus on tracking and bush knowledge, can be a highlight for older children.
